The Deep-Weight Series is Boccieri Golf's original, heaviest Heavy-Weight class — 900 grams total, roughly 2.5 times a conventional putter's head weight — and it's the configuration inventor Steve Boccieri built first when he discovered that head mass alone (without a grip-end counterweight) made the wrists break down under load. Launched as the 'TOUR-proven Heavy Putter' around 2005, it pairs a large mallet head with the biggest grip-end counterweight in the lineup, deliberately overbuilt to force a shoulders-and-arms pendulum stroke rather than a hands-driven poke. It's the extreme end of the Heavy Putter concept — the version aimed at golfers with the most wrist-release trouble under pressure, at the cost of some feel on longer putts.
As the founding 900-gram configuration, the Deep-Weight Series is the direct ancestor of the counterbalancing trend that eventually went mainstream across the putter industry (SuperStroke, Odyssey and others all now sell counterweighted models). It carried real tour credibility in its era across the PGA, European, Champions, Nationwide, Asian and Canadian Tours. It never built the kind of enthusiast cult that chases specific vintage heads, partly because reviewers were candid that the extreme weight sacrifices distance feel on long putts — a real, sourced trade-off, not a hidden flaw.
