“A rung-3 low-spin players driver, the compact 445cc B5 delivers a more penetrating flight with more stability and control for faster swings. Adjustable hosel and movable weights included. Cheap used, but it rewards good strikes and punishes misses.”
The B5 was the compact, low-spin sibling in Bridgestone's 2015 J715 driver family, built at 445cc versus the 460cc B3 that anchored the U.S. lineup - a smaller, more workable head aimed at faster swingers who wanted a players-driver profile rather than maximum forgiveness. It shared the line's core technology: a Power Milled Face designed to reduce ball slippage at impact and cut spin by roughly 200-300 RPM, an F.A.S.T. crown that thins near the face and thickens toward the rear to flex at impact for added ball speed, and a Variable Adjust hosel giving plus-or-minus 1 degree of loft and lie adjustment across eight settings, backed by interchangeable 2g/8g sole weights. Bridgestone's marketing credited tour-level feedback from staff players Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker for shaping the J715 line's development.
The 460cc B3 sibling won a Most Wanted Driver Accuracy award in MyGolfSpy's 2015 test of 28 drivers, and Today's Golfer scored the J715 4 out of 5, with tester James Ridyard calling it 'one of the longest clubs on test' for him - yet the compact 445cc B5 was a lower-profile variant that never got the same marketing push in the U.S. and today surfaces mostly in single-listing eBay and GlobalGolf inventory rather than in forum retrospectives.
Clean used J715 B5 heads now trade well below the original $399 MSRP - GlobalGolf lists a Value-condition 9.5 degree model with its stock Graphite Design Tour AD YSQ shaft at $214.99, while worn eBay listings (10.5 degree, stiff flex) have sold for as little as $131.99.

Best suited to low-to-mid handicap players with swing speeds fast enough to need spin taken off the ball rather than added to it - golfers who want a compact, deep-face look at address and are comfortable working the ball via the adjustable hosel and weight system.
Released in 2015 alongside the 460cc B3 and draw-biased D5, the J715 line competed against Titleist's 915D2/D3, Callaway's Big Bertha and TaylorMade's AeroBurner and R15; MyGolfSpy tested the line as part of its 2015 Most Wanted Driver report covering 28 models and 20 golfers over more than 150 hours.
At 445cc, the B5 trades away the forgiveness of the 460cc B3 for a smaller, more workable players shape; it is built around spin control and shot-shaping for faster swingers rather than bailing out off-center misses, which is why it sits below true 460cc game-improvement drivers on forgiveness.
Calibrated across the whole catalog — a tour blade scores low here on purpose; it means control, not ease.
