“GEN4 0317 hybrid. Rung-standard.”
The 0317 X GEN4 launched March 30, 2021, as part of PXG's first-ever same-day full-bag GEN4 release — driver, fairway, hybrid and irons all at once — priced at $379. It pairs an AM355 steel body with an HT1770 high-strength steel face, and its crown uses carbon fiber sprayed with the same Aluminum Vapor material found in Mitsubishi Tensei shaft construction. A honeycomb TPE insert tunes sound and feel while helping locate the center of gravity, and PXG trimmed its earlier multi-rivet weighting system down to two ports (forward and heel): shifting mass forward raises ball speed and lowers spin, while shifting it to the heel adds draw bias. Reviewers at Plugged In Golf praised quick launch, extra carry to keep pace with the GEN4 irons, and tight dispersion.
PXG hybrids across generations draw consistent praise from Plugged In Golf and Golf.com's ClubTest for performance, and the 0317 X GEN4 specifically is cited as getting airborne faster than comparable hybrids, but nothing in that coverage points to scarcity or forum-driven demand — it reads as respected, mainstream-good equipment rather than a chased item.
Used examples run roughly $60-$130 on 2nd Swing depending on condition and shaft, with most 'average' condition units clustering around $90-$100 — a steep drop from the $379 retail price, consistent with PXG's well-documented fast depreciation curve.

Fits mid-to-low handicap players wanting a long-iron replacement with genuine adjustability and workability; a total beginner would likely be better served by a simpler, more forgiving stock hybrid without the tuning options.
Debuted inside GEN4's unprecedented same-day full-lineup launch (a first for PXG) at $379, sitting between earlier GEN2/GEN3-era 0317 X hybrids and the eventual GEN5 rebrand that folded the '0317' hybrid name into PXG's unified '0311' naming in 2022.
The AM355/HT1770 construction and adjustable two-port weight system give real forgiveness and shot-shape control, and reviewers noted top-tier dispersion in testing, but the two-weight system is built more for CG/shot-bias tuning by a competent player than for blanket beginner-level forgiveness.
Calibrated across the whole catalog — a tour blade scores low here on purpose; it means control, not ease.
Reading is one thing — hitting is another. Book a bay and see the numbers for yourself before you buy anywhere.
