The 2018 Apex MB was Callaway's return to a pure forged muscleback blade after several years without one in the lineup. It's a one-piece 1025 carbon steel forging with a traditional, slightly thinner topline, essentially no offset, and 20V grooves tuned to hold spin from the rough. Reviewers tie its development to Sergio Garcia's 2017 move to Callaway, and Callaway separately sold a rarer Miura Giken-forged 'Tour Version' with an extended hosel through specialist import retailers -- distinct from, and scarcer than, the retail set most buyers actually own.
Same evidence as the sibling entry: DrivingRangeHeroes and The Sand Trap rank it among the best blades of its release window, and GolfWRX forum posters call it 'the nicest blade... that I have personally hit' and predict it will 'end up a classic.' Genuine enthusiast praise that hasn't reached mainstream recognition -- a sleeper, not (yet) a cult classic.
