“2024 PTx MAX - a deep-CG forgiveness driver from the resurrected brand (a PTx LST low-spin sibling exists too). Rung-max-forgiveness.”
The PTx MAX (2024) is the resurrected Ben Hogan brand's high-forgiveness flagship driver and the piece critics kept calling the best-value new driver of its year. It carries a Dash of Adams DNA (MyGolfSpy noted the Adams influence in the new PTx metalwoods) and chases a headline number: MOI over 10,000. Hogan gets there on a rounded 460cc head with variable-thickness hot face, a carbon-fiber crown and a high-density sole with discretionary weight pushed as far back as possible, plus an aerodynamic speed slot on the sole to protect head speed. An adjustable hosel gives up to +/-2 degrees of loft/lie. Its low-spin sibling, the PTx LST, moves that weight forward for high-speed players; the MAX is the stability-and-dispersion pick, sold direct at a price that undercuts the majors.
Not a cult club, but it earned a specific, repeated distinction across independent media, that a direct-to-consumer minnow built a 10K-MOI driver that reviewers (GolfMagic, GolfLink, Driving Range Heroes) rated a genuine best-value standout against big-budget flagships. That value-champion reputation is a real, sourced verdict beyond an anonymous commodity, but it is market esteem, not scarcity or collectibility.
Very thin used supply, it is recent and was sold only through benhogangolf.com. Expect reconditioned/graded store listings to read high; realistic 2026 private-party value is roughly $220-320 depending on shaft and condition, because new units still sell direct near $379 and there is no collector premium. Buyers should note the proprietary, non-backward-compatible PTx sleeve when sourcing replacement shafts.

For drivers who prioritize stability and tight dispersion over squeezing out spin, mid-handicap and up, or any speed player who sprays the face and wants the biggest safety net for the money. Not the pick for high-speed, low-spin bombers chasing a penetrating flight, who are steered to the forward-weighted PTx LST instead; the MAX trades a little roll-out spin control for maximum forgiveness.
A 2024 release positioned against the 10K-MOI forgiveness tier, TaylorMade Qi10 MAX, Callaway and Ping's max models, but sold direct near $379 instead of $600-plus at retail. Inside Hogan's line it is the forgiveness bookend to the low-spin PTx LST and the successor to the GS53 MAX as the brand's stability flagship (the PTx sleeve is not compatible with the older GS53 hosel). It reflects the brand's post-2017 White-era direct-to-consumer strategy of flagship tech at value pricing.
Built explicitly for forgiveness: a stated MOI over 10K (the threshold the biggest OEMs market as maximum stability), achieved by pairing a carbon crown with a dense sole and weight shoved to the back of a 460cc head, plus a variable-thickness face to protect ball speed on off-center hits. A 9 rather than 10 because it hits the 10K bar with fixed rather than heavily movable weighting and, being new, has less independent robot-test corroboration than the household-name 10K drivers.
Calibrated across the whole catalog — a tour blade scores low here on purpose; it means control, not ease.
Reading is one thing — hitting is another. Book a bay and see the numbers for yourself before you buy anywhere.
