The name comes from the idea that a busy "executive" could squeeze in a round at lunch. Why it matters: executive courses are ideal for beginners (less intimidating, cheaper), for sharpening your irons and wedges — the scoring clubs — and for evenings when a full 18 won't fit. Don't confuse short with easy: a well-bunkered 160-yard par 3 still bites.
