The angle between a wedge's leading edge and the lowest point of its sole — how much the back of the sole hangs below the front. Bounce is your margin for error: it lets the club skid through turf or sand instead of digging. High bounce (10–14°) suits soft sand, fluffy lies, and steep swings; low bounce (4–8°) suits tight fairways and shallow, sweeping swings. If you chunk chips, more bounce usually helps more than a new swing thought — the sole literally rejects the ground for you.
