A team format where — unlike a scramble — everyone plays their own ball the whole hole, and the team's score is the best individual score on each hole. In a 2-person best ball (the Rules call it Four-Ball), if you make 6 and your partner makes 4, the team posts a 4. Why it's great: you get a real round of your own golf, but a bad hole gets bailed out by a partner. It's the other team format at the Ryder Cup alongside alternate shot.
