A green-reading system, created by Mark Sweeney, that reads break with the feet instead of the eyes. Straddling the line, the player feels which way the green tilts and grades the slope on a simple scale — 1%, 2%, 3% — then holds up that many fingers at arm's length against the hole; the far edge of the fingers marks the aim point. The method grew out of Sweeney's Emmy-winning virtual putt-line graphics for Golf Channel broadcasts, and its quick version, AimPoint Express, is now the most visible green-reading routine in professional golf, used by a large share of the world's top players. Its virtue is repeatability: a measured read replaces a squinted guess.
