Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's 2006 desert essay on Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation land east of Scottsdale — and the rarest thing in Arizona golf: a course built to be walked. Greens and tees share turf, paths lead straight from tee to fairway, and there's not a house in sight, just saguaro, wash and the Four Peaks skyline. It has been named Arizona's best public course nearly every year since it opened.
