Built for Steve Wynn (~$60M) with over 21,000 mature trees transplanted into the desert; hosted 'The Match' (Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson, won by Mickelson) in November 2018 and the 2020 CJ Cup.
This course is in our GSPro library — pull it up in any bay and play it wall to wall.
"One of the most exclusive tee times in America: MGM Resorts hotel guests only, booked via concierge, $1,250 green fee including limo transfer from the Strip — a genuine bucket-list unlock in the sim. A GSPro community build exists under the real name 'Shadow Creek' (designer Adamtc4)."
Steve Wynn gave Tom Fazio a reported $60 million and a flat, featureless patch of desert north of Las Vegas, and told him to build paradise. Fazio called it 'total site manipulation': carved hills and canyons, thousands of imported pines, creeks and waterfalls where nothing grew. Opened in 1989-90 as Wynn's personal club, it won Golf Digest's Best New Private and debuted at No. 8 on America's 100 Greatest — still the highest debut ever. MGM took it over in 2000 and opened it to hotel guests. It hosted the 2018 Tiger-Phil match and the 2020 CJ Cup, and remains golf's most audacious act of landscape fiction.
Anyone who wants to see what unlimited money does to golf architecture, Vegas trip-of-a-lifetime groups, and skeptics who think a manufactured course can't have soul. It converts most of them.
The par-3 17th over a rock-walled pond with a waterfall is peak Fazio theater, and the par-5 18th plays down a manufactured canyon with a creek crossing the layup — the finishing pair carried the Tiger-Phil match. Hole after hole, the trick is you can't see the desert; every view was composed like a film set.
Generous fairways and immaculate turf make it friendlier than its ranking suggests, but water, forced carries, and length stack up. Beginners can enjoy it — at these prices, they probably shouldn't.
Confirmed in GSPro — a well-regarded community build (Adamtc4, 2022) used in SGT tournament play. This is the ultimate sim value play: the real thing costs $1,250 plus an MGM stay, the bay version costs your normal hourly. Gorgeous flyovers, fair fairways, and a great 17-18 finish for match-play nights.
Public in the loosest sense: you must stay at an MGM resort, and the green fee is $1,250 — the most expensive in golf. Booking runs through MGM; a caddie comes with the round. Monday-Thursday only for guests, historically.
