Donald Ross's 1929 masterpiece on a 140-acre strip of Juno Beach oceanfront, developed by E.F. Hutton and mentioned in the same breath as Pinehurst No. 2 as Ross's finest. Ross used two dune ridges to route a course where the wind direction rewrites the test daily. Ben Hogan famously spent a month here every spring tuning up for Augusta, and became an honorary member alongside Eisenhower. Henry Picard, the 1938 Masters champion, was the pro for 26 years. Its Pro-Member, dating to a 1937 Calcutta, carries names like Hogan, Snead, and Palmer on the locker-room board. The 2021 Walker Cup finally showed it to the world in HD.

Anyone who cares about Ross, Hogan, or the idea that a course under 7,000 yards can still terrify tour pros. It is the ultimate wind-and-angles seminar disguised as a genteel Florida club.

The par-3 17th along the ocean dune is the icon: short iron, brutal crosswind, green angled against you. The 6th, a par 4 Hogan reportedly called one of his favorites, shows the Ross formula — the tee shot is easy, the correct tee shot is anything but, and the elevated green punishes the wrong angle.

Deceptively playable off the tee — wide and flattish — but the wind, the raised greens, and the pace of the putting surfaces make scoring a pro-level examination. Beginners would be charmed and destroyed.

Florida's most exclusive club, but the wrong coast for us — Juno Beach is about 3 hours from Wesley Chapel. The sim is honestly the only realistic way a Clubhouse member ever plays it, which makes it a great bay-night flex.

A community GSPro recreation exists (a Tekbud build circulates on the course servers), which is remarkable access to a club this closed. Play it with wind turned well up — flat-calm Seminole is a par-fest and completely misses the point. Perfect queue-up for members who think sub-7,000 yards means easy.

One of the most private clubs in America — member invite only, and even members' guest access is tightly managed. The Walker Cup and TaylorMade's 2020 charity match are the closest most of us get.
