The Island was Innisbrook's first 18, opened in 1970 — Larry Packard working with his son Roger — and locals will tell you it gives up nothing to its famous sibling. Where Copperhead leans on length and pines, the Island crowds you with water, cypress heads, and abundant bunkering on tighter fairways; plenty of Innisbrook regulars call it the harder scoring test. A renovation lengthened and sharpened it, and it has long served as the resort's second championship stage while Copperhead hosts the Valspar.

Golfers doing the Innisbrook stay-and-play who want the full Packard picture, and anyone who thinks Copperhead is the hard one — the Island will happily argue the point.

The water-and-cypress holes on the front nine set the tone — forced decisions off the tee rather than forced carries into greens. Its character is cumulative: no single postcard hole, just eighteen that never let you swing carelessly.

Tight fairways, intimidating water on many holes, and constant bunkering — honestly a tougher day for a beginner than Copperhead's forward tees. Bring extra golf balls.

Forty-five minutes from Wesley Chapel at the same Palm Harbor resort as Copperhead — the savvy local play is the Island, which costs less, books easier, and by many accounts plays just as hard.

A community GSPro recreation exists (it shows up on GSPro course trackers like The Course View). In the sim its tight corridors and water punish a two-way miss — a good accuracy audit for Clubhouse members between Copperhead sessions.
