Kyle Franz built Karoo over the bones of World Woods' famed Pine Barrens, opening in 2024 as the boldest statement in Florida golf: a maximalist design in a minimalist age. Critics are split on whether it surpasses Fazio's original, but nobody calls it timid. At 7,562 yards from the tips, it's Central Florida's most talked-about new course.

The 18th with its triple fairway is the thesis statement — three routes, three risk profiles. Throughout, the split-fairway holes force a real decision off every tee, with big exposed sand hazards dividing the playing corridors.

Enormous fairways mean you'll rarely lose a ball, but the exposed sand, wild green contours, and multiple-route decisions punish players who can't control distance. Playable but disorienting for new golfers.

This is our backyard bucket-lister — Brooksville is about 45 minutes up I-75/US-98 from Wesley Chapel. Summer rates make it a realistic splurge round for Clubhouse members; play it real, then debate it in the bay.
