This Tom Fazio design opened in 1999 as Branson Creek Golf Club, then got a second life when Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris bought it for Big Cedar Lodge in 2013. Fazio reworked it with native grasses, new water features and expanded wildlife corridors, and it reopened as Buffalo Ridge — named honestly: a herd of bison from the neighboring Dogwood Canyon Nature Park grazes alongside the fairways. It anchored the PGA Tour Champions' Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf and, after closing in late 2024, reopened in summer 2025 with fully re-grassed bentgrass greens.

The stretches beside the bison pasture are the postcards, and Fazio's post-2013 work — limestone, spring-fed water, native grass framing — gives several approaches a dramatic all-carry look you rarely get in the Midwest.

A stern test: real elevation change, limestone outcroppings, and carries over creeks and springs. Multiple tee decks keep it resort-playable, but 'hard' is the honest rating.
