Baiting Hollow's golf course dates to 1966, funded by roughly 150 local North Fork residents who each put up $5,000 in 1963 to buy the land and build a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design on bluffs above Long Island Sound. The club then cycled through identities — Baiting Hollow Country Club, then Flagg Country Club, then in the 1990s The Fox Hill Golf & Country Club — before a 2007 restoration by architects Hurdzan-Fry returned the course closer to Jones's original design, the club reclaimed the Baiting Hollow name, and a new 25,000-square-foot clubhouse opened in 2009. The elevated tees and greens along the Sound give the course some of the more dramatic vistas on the North Fork.

The holes routed along the bluffs, with elevated tees looking down over Long Island Sound, are the reason members talk about the views as much as the golf.
