Jack Nicklaus took the wooded 1965 Grand Haven Golf Course and, working with fighter-pilot and Folds of Honor founder Lt. Col. Dan Rooney from 2019, stripped it nearly bare of trees to reveal a heaving Lake Michigan sandscape. Nicklaus waived his design fee; the course reopened in 2021 as a working memorial. You enter through a tunnel embedded with the bootprints of fallen service members, every hole honors a fallen hero alongside one of Jack's major wins, and all profits fund Folds of Honor scholarships — over $3.5 million since opening.
