1. Count the club's score lines to find the vertical center of the club face. (Even number of lines: the center is between the middle two. Odd number: it's on the center line.)
2. Apply the first two markers along the vertical center of the face, near the outer edge of the score lines — one at the heel, one at the toe — keeping both level with each other. Place each about one marker-width from the edge of the score line. The point between them defines the horizontal center of the face.
3. Apply the last two markers on the toe of the club face, at the top and bottom edges of the ball-strike zone.

All 4 markers must be on the club face to correctly capture data.

4 markers

1. Fairway woods take the same 4-marker pattern as drivers.
2. Two markers level with each other on the vertical center of the face at the heel and toe edges of the score lines.
3. Two more on the toe, at the top and bottom edges of the ball-strike zone.

1. From the bottom of the club, count 6 score lines up to find the approximate vertical hitting center.
2. Apply the first two markers between the sixth and seventh score lines at the toe and heel, keeping both markers level with each other, each about one marker-width from the edge of the score line. The point between them defines the horizontal center of the face.
3. Apply the last two markers on the toe of the club face, at the top and bottom edges of the ball-strike zone.

1. Wedges take the same 4-marker pattern as irons.
2. Count 6 score lines up from the bottom; place two markers between the sixth and seventh lines at the heel and toe, level with each other.
3. Two more on the toe, at the top and bottom edges of the ball-strike zone.

All 4 markers must be on the club face to correctly capture data.

3 markers

1. Putters take 3 markers (the 3-dot pattern).
2. Place the heel marker on the vertical center line of the face, at the heel edge.
3. Place the two remaining markers on the opposite (toe) edge, equidistant above and below the vertical center line — the same distance from the horizontal center as the heel marker.
