Gil Hanse's 2017 addition to Streamsong, built on reclaimed phosphate-mine land an hour southeast of Tampa. Its defining feature is the greens — roughly 11 acres of putting surface in total, averaging around 11,000 square feet each, the biggest and boldest set most golfers will ever see. Hanse's team kept shaving surrounding slopes to green height during construction, creating putter-from-everywhere recovery golf. It's the most controversial and, for many, the most fun of the three Streamsong courses — even used for U.S. Open sectional qualifying.

Creative players who love the ground game and putting from 40 yards off the green. If you think golf should be fun and weird, Black is your course; if you demand fairness, play Blue.

The 9th's massive punchbowl green — sunk 8-10 feet below the surrounding ridge with four distinct quadrants — is one of the most memorable greens in American golf. The finishing stretch is widely called the strongest at the resort.

The fairways are enormous and forced carries are few, so beginners can advance the ball — but the gigantic, wildly contoured greens will produce four-putts. Come for fun, not for score.

This is our backyard bucket-list course — about an hour from Wesley Chapel via US-98 through Lakeland. Play it on the sim first, then go walk the real thing; it's the best golf trip in Florida that doesn't need a hotel.
