Pete Dye and Greg Norman's first design collaboration (1995), set in the scruffy, marsh-dotted sand scrub of Hobe Sound on Florida's Treasure Coast. Norman spent years softening Dye's edges until critics said the course had lost its personality; Bobby Weed's 2015 renovation deliberately restored the 1995 look — lowered, smaller greens open in front, revetted bunker walls, firm running turf, restored marsh vistas. It's best known now as the home course of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and half the world's top pros, and as the stage for the Tiger/Peyton vs. Phil/Brady Match in 2020.

Low handicaps who want to feel what Tiger's daily test is like, and Dye devotees curious about the restored original. Not a casual-round course.

The signature is the whole examination rather than one hole: angled, open-front greens that demand the correct side of broad fairways, hazards biting the inside corners to tempt big carries, and Pinehurst-like run-offs that make recovery the most interesting shot in the round.

Built to test tour players: stretches toward 7,600 yards, firm and windy, with sandy waste and marsh punishing misses. Ground-game greens give shorter hitters options, but this is a hard course.

Florida course, but Hobe Sound is a 3-hour cross-state haul and it's invite-only regardless — the bay is realistically the only way a Wesley Chapel golfer plays Medalist.
